Core 5 Commitment
I developed this short list as a scalable solution for my institution and designers to develop a new daily habit with course information, somewhere between perfection and no action at all.
- Captions on videos. Captions or a transcript must be present and checked for accuracy.
- Descriptive Links. All web links are hyperlinked text with meaning except when the wed domain is short or the URL is part of the learning.
- Styles & Headings. All web pages, docs and .pdfs are tagged for accessibility/screen readers for vision impaired.
- Alt Tags. All images have descriptive alt tags or are set to decorative only for a screenreader.
- Ribbon Tool: Use the built-in tools for tables, bold, numbered lists, bullet lists, etc. Break the old-timer habit of spaces and tabs.

DEFINITIONS: Accessible, Adaptable, and Universal Design |
Universal DesignUniversal Design is where creativity meets consideration. Legal obligations are only starting point. Like all good design, the goal is unobtrusive functionality with flashes of delight. -R. Sweeten
